Well folks, after digging around in my piles of post-modern pulp paperbacks, I've noted that there's a LOT of Sword & Sorcery fiction out there. Yeah, most of it's just a rip-off of Conan, but lets face it - Robert E. Howard capped himself at the age of 30, and while he was a very prolific writer during the course of his life, you can re-read his "yarns" only so many times before you go nuts and reach for a pistol yourself.
So, as much as it might pain you, it might be time to go and take a look at some of the newer authors of S&S fiction out there. Karl Edward Wagner is a good one - might be just as good as REH (of course, he offed himself as well - a trend?). Jessica Amanda Salmonson is a great writer, and her Tomoe Gozen stories are well worth reading. In addition, there's the works of David Drake, Lin Carter, Andrew J. Offutt, Ramsey Campbell, Richard L. Tierney...this list could go on for an irritating length.
Hopefully we can see a few posts here as time goes on discussing these post-Howardian prosists.

Sounds like a great addition. I always liked Fritz Leiber's work.
