A series of books in the adventure/spy/secret agent genre, but set either in reformation England or under Oliver Cromwell....The author or the hero of the books is i think a name similar to Parnell, though on this i could be mistaken....Are there any other books similar to this...eg. historical pulp fiction

thanks for the try...no this is not it....the character was a secret agent or spy either during the time of cromwell or the time of charles second....in one book he is captured in south america i think by the spanish, and something is now coming to me that the villians name was similar to pollifax....sorry i cannot be clearer
