How does one go about registering?
I'm already part of the Piccadilly Cowboys group that uses a similar message board format? Could I just use that ID?
Thanks.

Hey Andrew,
I don't think proboards IDs carry over from one board to the next. But if you're at the main page, up top there should be a link called "register" where you can set up an ID. For somplicity's sake you could just use the same one on your other board to cut down on having to remember different IDs on every board.
I also don't have any restrictions on guest postings, so if you don't feel like registering, you can always be "Andrew" the guest.
Either way, thanks for dropping by.

Hey! Great idea for a message board and a welcome alternative to some of the other ones out there where you must tow the line or be slammed, banned or canned if your own tastes don't match the webmasters!
I was lucky enough to find your post modern pulp webpage and thought it was great...your opinions and insights on several series, most notably the much derided Death Merchant mirror my own...keep up the good work on the site and the best of luck with this new message board!

Hey Django, nice of you to drop by - I've seen you over at mackbolan.com. I put this message board up mostly to serve both as a means of commentary about my own budding web project, and as a more general forum for action/adventure fans. Most of the other boards and lists out there will generally tolerate off-topic banter about something not related to their main purpose for a while, but I wanted a place where people could talk about movies, TV, books...anything that fell in the action/adventure/pulp genres, and without any pressure to bend knee to any specific fan base.
So please feel free to contribute and help this board grow.

To the world at large, Django The Bastard is a strange, mysterious overage fanboy of heroes with everything from bronze skin to black battlesuits. To his amazing co-readers of adventure in all forms---the greatest bunch of brainy fans ever assembled in one group---he is a man of of superhuman passion for collecting and protean obsessions of everything from pulp heroes of the thirties to Asian genre cinema of today. He is a fan of the greatest adventure heroes of all time, whose fantastic exploits are unequaled for hair-raising thrills, breathtaking escapes, desperate internet searching and blood-curdling message board excitement!Well, if you don't recognize the above, I shamelessly stole and reworded it from the back covers of the classic Doc Savage paperback reprints... Just thought I would take a moment to introduce myself...the real name is Mike and I am indeed a fanboy of just about anything in the field of adventure fiction...something I have loved since I was a kid...(in brief it was the Adam West Batman show that led to comics...which led to more comics...which led to the 70's Marvel Doc Savage comic...which led to Doc Savage paperbacks...which led to Tarzan, The Shadow, The Spider and The Avenger paperback series...which led to The Executioner...which led to The Penetrator, The Butcher, The Destroyer (a most particular favorite), Richard Blade, Edge and all the Pinnacle purveyors of paperback pulpism...while I dropped comics for the most part in high school and college...it was Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and Alan Moore's Watchmen which brought be screaming headfirst back into the fold of collecting the world of 4-color fun...other interests that sprung out of my passion for high adventure include old-time radio, cliffhanger serials, Japanese Kaiju, Hong Kong Action, Spaghetti Westerns...etc...etc... I live in upstate New York with my wonderful fiancee (the greatest woman in the whole world...who not only tolerates my "hobbies", but encourages them!) and our three cats... I have a great job working for one of the largest technology companies in the world...a job whose title curiously enough is that of "Expeditor"...which also happens to be one of the those long forgotten pulp series from the 1970's... Coincidence...? Hmmm... OK...enough from me...let's hear from y'all... ;D

Oh sweet baby Jeebus, that is a rockin' cover. Gotta find me some of those titles.
Glad to see some traffic from the mackbolan.com crew. Just keep it friendly and all is well.

New to the board and thought I would say a few words.
A little background on myself. I was a comic geek growing up, primarily Marvel titles moreso than DC. This was back in the day when those were really the only two companies around. A trip to the library when I was in 5th grade introduced me to John Christopher and stories that take place after a major disaster, such as an alien invasion or some type of epidemic.
When I was about 14, I came across a paperback book called Hawker by Carl Ramm. It was about an ex-SWAT member turned vigilante. I was hooked from the first page! Shared it with a buddy of mine and we discovered the world of the action/adventure novel. For the next 5 years or so, between us we devoured Bolan, Phoenix Force, SOBs, The Survivalist, Doomsday Warrior and all the other series we could get our grubby mitts on. He leaned more toward the military genre while I was more interested in any kind of post-holocaust stories.
After high school, we sort of drifted away from the genre and branched out into horror, sci-fi, etc. I became a die hard Stephen King fan. Again, particularly those stories that take place in the near future.
Well, we've been out of high school for about 15 years and I hadn't really thought about all those tales I loved so much in my youth in quite some time. The other day, my buddy was cleaning out his garage and came across a couple of boxes tucked way back on a shelf. Lo and behold, he had kept ALL of those books, complete sets of many of the series published in the 80s and early 90s. So, we're now in the process of rereading them and trying to figure out why we stopped collecting them.
I contacted our moderator here privately and he was kind enough to share with me the list he has going of all the different series. I've identified a few that haven't been added yet and am also trying to track down some of the missing info on the others I used to read. How might I submit that info? Is there a separate section of this board for those kinds of posts?
Looking forward to some lively and informative discussions here!

Hey Jim, welcome aboard.
Good to see another enthusiast posting here. We're slowly trying to piece together "the big picture", and it's always amazing to discover someone who's actually read a series you'd never thought anyone else liked or even read (like War of the Ninja Master).
So, feel free to post here on whatever's interesting you at the moment - I love to see new posters creating threads of their own. The more content and active members we have posting, the more new content we'll attract.

Thanks again for the suggestion of "War of the Ninja Masters" and thanks for pointing me to this website. I'm pretty new to pulp fiction of any kind, so I may not have a lot to say (as of yet), but I'll definately be keeping an eye on things here, and I'm sure I'll be getting some great info both from the website and the board. Thanks.

My account is still pending approval but I thought I'd say hello as a guest. Wolf2000 will be my user name once my account is approved. I've been a huge Mack Bolan fan since I was in middle school. Even missed a day because I was so upset that April Rose got killed in "Day of Mourning". I stopped reading after issue #150 or so because I felt the quality was going downhill. I am also a fan of the now out of print "Endworld" series and it's spin-off, "Blade". I am also a fan of the author, William W. Johnstone. IE; the "Ashes" series and his modern times books. I really haven't got into the old-west books but I hear they're quite good.

Hey Wolf - your account should automatically have been approved as I don't restrict memberships on a moderated basis. So if wolf2000 isn't working for some reason, you might have the password wrong. I can either delete the name and you can try re-registering it, or you can just register another Screen Name.
Either way, nice to hear from you.

Hello all,
Unfortunately, this particular thread has had 30+ spam posts to it in the last 24 hours, so I'm locking it for a while to try and stop the junk posts.
This is starting to become a bigger problem that it used to be. I don't want to set the board so that only registered users can post - just today we've had two legitimate Guest postings - but If this problem continues, I may have to make parts of the board Members-posting only, and create a separate section for the Guest posts. Time will tell.
