OK, I'm shamelessly stealing from the mackbolan.com message board.
However, I've been hearing some "interesting" chatter about this series, and I'm wondering if anyone out there has an opinion about it.
So let's hear it, gentle readers - What's your opinion of "Springblade"?

While I haven't read the majority of the series, I have to admit I did like the one I did read and plan on hunting more of them down on the used bookstore trail...
The author brings a sort of, for lack of a better word, gravitas to the series as he does have an extensive background in the military, special forces, and the niche category the series falls into...that of edged weapons and men who are experts in their use...
(Greg Walker's writings on knives and knife fighting can be easily accessed on the web...)
As for the heroes, a mixture of retired special operators, governement agents, and active duty personnel...they are hardly supermen, they come across as characters seemingly dirty, sweaty, and realistic...with real experiences, memories and opinions. No doubt based on the author's own experiences...
It is hardly surprising that Bo Thornton, Vietnam special forces vet, an aging warrior, the leader of Springblade (the unit's codename as well as Bo's personal weapon) has a less then liberal world view and dim opinion of anti war protestors and government higher ups alike...
Whether it be the elsewhere cited knifing of a gang of homosexual rapists or his complaining about the way the government handled the aftermath of Desert Storm...Bo's actions seem totally in character...his decision to forego retirement to aid Kurdish refugees in Vol 9 shows he does have a compassionate side as well...
I give this series a thumb's up for fan's of military/black ops based action adventure...Greg Walker has stated he has been planning on bringing the Springblade unit back in the near future...I hope he does so...!

Yeah, I figure I'll pick up a copy if I ever come across one. I mean, if I can read Death Merchant, I should be able to read Springblade, and since I will admit to having a love of mean, completely pointless-to-own knives (like my CRKT First Strike, whose seemingly only purpose is to punch through bulletproof vests and the like), I might find them pretty interesting reads.
And I too found some reference on a knives message board by the author on re-starting the series. Might be a good chance to catch up on the series.
