Usually considered the macho pulp series for people who don't like macho pulp series, mainly because it's basically a kind of light joke vaguely squeezed into a macho pulp container.
This one has to do with an evil genius who's dying and decides to take the rest of the world with him through poisonous seeds, and with Remo's longing to believe in the guy as emblematic of disinterested goodness. Which of course he isn't.
Much good light humor -- Chiun is a priceless character -- the action sequences are pretty much beside the point, although I liked the typewriter driven through one bad guy. An interesting backstory/mythology, unusually deep for this kind of thing. A nice message -- one I happen to agree with, but even if I didn't, it's very gracefully handled. As is the book most generally: I don't know if I'd say it's the best of these series, but it's certainly one of the best written.
Recommended.

I've read two Destroyer novels. Pretty entertaining stuff. The tongue-in-cheek works because the characters are, for the most part, playing it straight - it's the depiction of what's going on that makes it so hilarious. I've got the first four books in the series in re-released trade-paperback size, and I really need to get off my butt and read them. Of course, I've got whole SHELVES of pulp that I "need to read"...
